The journey
Where we have been, where we are now and where we are heading in STEM Racing.
The competition
STEM Racing, formerly F1 in Schools, is an international competition for secondary school students, endorsed by Formula 1.
- Teams
- Three to six students who run every part of the project themselves.
- The car
- Designed with CAD and simulation tools, then manufactured and finished by the team.
- The race
- 20 metres on a track, the car guided by a tether line and launched by an 8-gram CO2 cartridge.
- Judging
- Engineering, enterprise, portfolios, the pit display and a verbal presentation count alongside race times.
- World Finals
- Held every year in a different country, usually alongside a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
- World record
- 0.916 seconds over 20 metres, set in 2016.
